TEXT: AMERICA; PATHWAYS TO THE PRESENT - PRENTICE HALL

COURSE DESCRIPTION:  The student will develop a historical perspective for making decisions and planning future courses of action by analyzing causes and effects and verbally and visually communicating the continuities and correlations among past and present United States and world events.

GOALS: Students will be able to examine fundamental historical themes, explain and understand cultural differences, and gain knowledge in our relationship between our physical environment and the way we live, think, behave, and work.

METHODS: Material will be presented in the form of simulation games, student presentations, guest speakers, lectures, and audio visual material.

ASSIGNMENTS: Detailed descriptions of each assignment will be provided well in advance before they are due. All assignments and the dates they are due will be posted within the classroom.

GRADING:  I strongly suggest that you take your Assessments on time.

  1. All Assessments must be taken within a two week time frame.
  2. If you do not take your Assessment within the two week time frame you will receive a 60% on your Assessment no matter what you scored.
  • If you fail the Assessment you must take it over.
  • If you do not like the score on an Assessment you may take it over again. Here again this retake policy is only good for two weeks.
  • All Assessment retakes must follow the Test Correction Policy form that was handed out in class.
  • All Assessment retake forms must be emailed to Mr.Voss prior to the test so your make up test can be written. I will email or tell you when you are able to take a make-up test.
  • All make-up Assessments will be done during the Advisory period.
  1. Homework is turned in on time for full credit.
  • Anything turned in one (1) day late is docked 10%.
  • Anything past the two day due date only receives 60% credit.
  • Homework MAY NOT be turned in AFTER you have taken a Test
